Bluefield, WV – Bluefield State University volleyball went 2-2 at the Big Blue Classic, taking a 3-0 win over Clinton and a 3-2 win over Glenville State.
Game one vs. Clinton – 3-0 W
The Big Blue secured the win in their season opener against Clinton, controlling the matchup from the start to take the 3-0 win. Soniya Garner and Alexia Cunningham led the Big Blue with eight kills each with Tessa Heffner adding 32 assists and 10 digs.
Game two vs. Glenville State – 1-3 L
Callesta Styles led the offense in game two with 12 kills and two blocks with Garner adding nine kills. Heffner finished with 27 assists while Kaileigh Solis anchored the back row with seven digs.
Game three vs. King – 2-3 L
The Big Blue battled in a back-and-forth five-set match with King, before falling in the fifth set . Danielle Robinson led the Big Blue with 17 kills with Solis coming away with 24 digs.
Game four vs. Glenville State – 3-2 W
Garner powered the Big Blue in the final match with a game high 16 kills and 12 digs while Jada Burns added 10 kills. Haffner dished out 40 assists, six digs and two blocks. Solis led the defense with 15 digs and two aces.
