Box Score Cedarville, OH- The Lady Blues fell tonight on the road to The Cedarville University Yellow Jackets by a final score of 81-40.
For the game, the Lady Blues shot 35% from the field, 36% from beyond the arc and 67% from the stripe. The Yellow Jackets held a slight edge in field goal percentage shooting 38%. The Jackets were also very dominant on the boards, grabbing 57 total rebounds compared to The Lady Blues 25.
The Yellow Jackets were able to build an early lead, jumping out 6-0. But BSC battled back, having three of their first four baskets come from behind the arc, tying the game at 11. Cedarville came back with a 3 of their own to retake the lead but BSC kept it tight throughout the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the Yellow Jackets expanded on their lead pulling ahead 37-19 with just under three minutes left in the half. The teams traded baskets for the rest of the period and the score was 40-26 at the half time whistle.
Coming out of the half, Cedarville really stepped up their defense. The Lady Blues struggled from the floor, only scoring 14 points for the rest of the game. The Yellow Jackets extended their lead to 24 points at the end of the third. With The Lady Blues offensive struggles they couldn't quite recover and lost 81-40.
Junior Tanasia Blake had a solid game coming of the bench, where she was tied for a team high 9 points and led the team with 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Freshman Lyndsay Hatfield also had 9 points and led the team in assists with 5.
The Lady Blues have a slight change in their schedule this week due to weather concerns. They will continue to be on the road, traveling to Ursuline College in Pepper Pike, OH on Saturday January 23rd. The game is still set to tip-off at 2:00 pm.
