Box Score 2 Atlanta, GA- The Big Blues bats come alive in today's double-header against Clark Atlanta. 10-2 and 5-2 the finals, as Bluefield State picks up their first two wins of the season.
In the first game the Blues finally started producing some runs. The Blues were able to get on base and drive in runs al throughout the 7-inning game. Chase Chambers and Tyler Frazier were the two Blues who helped ignite the offense. Chase ended the game with 4 RBIs and Tyler had 3. The scoring started early for the Blues as they got 3 runs in the first and second innings. BSC scored 2 in the 4th and tacked on the last 2 in the 6th and 7th.
Jacob Muncy took the mound for the Blues and received his first win on the season (now 1-2). He pitched an excellent game, facing 33 batters in a complete game effort. Muncy gave up 2 runs on 7 hits while walking 4 and striking out 5. His effort plus the offensive that showed up helped the Blues pick up their 1st win
In the second game the Blues were able to force the Panthers of Clark Atlanta to make plays. By doing this, they were able to capitalize on the two errors Clark had, scoring in the 3rd and 4th off an error and passed ball. Then Chambers once again had another strong game tallying 2 more RBIs in the 5th inning.
Ridge Sibold, now 1-1 this season, took the mound for the Big Blues in Game 2 and matched Jacob's performance from Game 1. Sibold pitched a complete game (7 innings) giving up 6 hits but only walking 1 and striking out 5.
It was an impressive performance by The Big Blues today and they will continue to be in Atlanta tomorrow, as they play a double header against Morehouse College. The first pitches are scheduled for 12:00 and 3:00.
