Bluefield, VA- The Big Blues pick up their first win of the season in dominating fashion, beating the Concord 8-1. The ladies played well up and down the line-up with none of the matches going more than 2 sets. Maria Hernandez and Marta Briales both won their matches, 6-0, 6-0. Wendy Rudhu and Laura Hernandez both took care of business in their singles match. Rudhu won 6-2, 6-1 and Hernandez won 6-0, 6-2. Taffy Mawisire had the toughest match of the day. Mawisire took the second set to a tiebreaker almost sending the match into a 3rd set.
But Mawisire was solid on the doubles side as her and Rudhu won the doubles 1 match 8-0. The Hernandez sisters also were on their game today as they on 8-0 in their doubles match. Briales and Alania Blankenship did not get to play a doubles match because Concord only brought 5 players but each were there to take the forfeit.
The ladies will look to use this momentum when they take on Tusculum Sunday at 12:00 pm. A detailed list of scores is below.
