Box Score ERIE, Pennsylvania - The Bluefield State women's basketball team dropped the second of a two-game series to Gannon University Sunday afternoon at The Hammermill Center, 43-55. The Big Blue drops to 2-9, while the Golden Knights improve to 7-1.
Sunday afternoon, The Big Blue faced the powerhouse number 20 ranked team in the country. The Big Blue kept the first two quarters in close range, only trailing the Golden Knights at the half by five points, 20-25. The Big Blue led the Golden Knights 12-8 in the first quarter. The second quarter was the complete opposite the Big Blue only managed to score eight points in the second quarter.
The Big Blue worked diligently to keep the Golden Knights from getting a huge lead. Although the Big Blue didn't pull off the win. The Big Blue managed to capture more points off the bench, 21-18. The Big Blue also scored more points off the Golden Knights turnovers, 14-10.
The Big Blue struggled a little on the offensive side of the ball this afternoon. Leading the Big Blue for the first time this season was Ashile Louden with 15 points. Louden was 5 of 7 from the three-point line this afternoon. Followed by Louden was Alexus Tucker, who worked both sides of the ball pretty well this afternoon. Tucker had nine points and seven rebounds in Sunday afternoon's game.
The Big Blue played great defense Sunday afternoon, holding The Golden Knights leading scorer from Friday night's game Sam Pirosko to 11 points. Sunday afternoon, The Golden Knights were led by Sydney Mitchell with only 12 points. Sunday afternoon's game was similar to Friday night's game where neither team couldn't manage to score points inside the paint.

The season will continue Saturday, February 13 against Kentucky State. The Big Blue will face the Thorebreds at William Exum Center.

"I thought we played great today. We made some adjustments in just over 24 hours against the #20 team in the country, and we executed. Just didn't make enough shots or get to the free throw line enough. The difference was they shot 9 more free throws on them and made 12 more."
