Ray Broughton Named Associate Head Coach for Big Blue Basketball

Bluefield, WV – Bluefield State University men's basketball has announced the addition of Ray Broughton as Associate Head Coach for the Big Blue.

Broughton arrives at Bluefield State with more than two decades of coaching experience across the collegiate, high school, AAU, and international levels, as well as 23 years of decorated military service.

Broughton most recently served as an assistant coach at Elizabeth City State University for four seasons, following a three-year stint at Fayetteville State University. His coaching résumé also includes leading Prince George High School girls' basketball in Virginia to an 85-9 record over four years, as well as international experience founding the Oki Ice Basketball Club in Okinawa, Japan, and guiding Kadena Boys High School to a Far East Championship in 2010.

In addition to his basketball career, Broughton is a retired Chief Warrant Officer-3 with the United States Army. A four-time Iraqi tour veteran, he earned a reputation for leadership and discipline that now defines his coaching philosophy.

A Jacksonville, Florida native, Broughton holds a Master of Business Administration from Ashford University. He and his wife, Teameco Broughton, a Columbus, Mississippi native and fellow 20-year military veteran, are the proud parents of six children.
