There are more than 300 NCAA Division II women's basketball programs spread across 33 conferences nationwide. Standing out in that crowd is no small task—but this season the Big Blue women's basketball program is doing far more than standing out. They're making noise.
After finishing the 2024–2025 season as the national statistical leader in turnovers forced per game (28.57), Big Blue picked up right where they left off. While last season's win-loss column didn't always reflect the program's growth, this year tells a very different story.
The results are real. The confidence is real. And the nation is starting to notice.
The Big Blue has recorded signature wins over Glenville State University and the University of Charleston, two programs sitting atop their respective conferences at #1 and #3. The win over Glenville State was especially historic—marking the first time a CIAA school has defeated Glenville since 2015. Those weren't just wins; they were statements.
The Big Blue style of play is relentless, fast, and disruptive—what Coach Davis proudly calls "Controlled Chaos." It's a system built on pressure, pace, and fearlessness, and it has vaulted the program into elite national company.
Nationally, Big Blue ranks:
• #12 in scoring offense (78.6 points per game)
• #13 in free throws made per game (16.62 made per game)
• #9 in free throws attempted per game (23.90 attempted per game)
• #5 in turnover margin (+9.81)
• #3 in bench points per game (36.7 bench points per game)
• #2 in steals per game (19.4 steals per game)
• #2 in turnovers forced per game (33.19 turnovers forced per game)
Within the CIAA, the dominance is even more striking. Picked to finish last in the conference, the Big Blue squad now sits at 6-7 in conference play and 3-4 in the division, flipping expectations on their head. Big Blue currently ranks:
• #1 in scoring
• #1 in steals per game
• #1 in turnovers forced per game
• #1 in three-pointers attempted
• #1 in three-pointers made
• #3 in offensive rebounds
This surge didn't happen by accident.
The return of All-Conference standouts Jasmine Jenkins and Azahreya Drayton-Gill provided a strong foundation of leadership and production. The additions of Tianna Rhodes and Jayla Sample injected even more on-ball pressure, turning the perimeter into a nightmare for opposing guards.
Coach Davis also made his mark on the recruiting trail, bringing in a group of competitors who fit the Big Blue identity perfectly: Jhakia Gist, Azori Edwards, Leniyah Fulsome, Michelle McGhee, and Mia Little. Each newcomer added firepower, toughness, and depth—fueling one of the most explosive offenses in Division II.
Now sitting at 12–10 overall, Big Blue isn't just improving—they're evolving into a program nobody wants to see on the schedule.
With Coach Davis at the helm, one thing is certain: excuses aren't part of the culture. Results are.
As he lives by the mantra: "Don't Make Excuses, Make Results."
And this season, the results speak loudly.
