Bluefield, WV – Big Blue softball standouts Paige Whittington and Skyy Hicks have been selected to compete in the 4th annual Minority Softball Prospects (MSP) HBCU All-Star Game on Friday, June 5th at Stick Williams Dream Fields.
Senior Paige Whittington appeared in 47 games for the Big Blue, leading the way with a .461 average on the year. Whittington collected 71 hits, including 14 doubles and 4 triples, while anchoring the outfield with a .960 fielding percentage on 92 putouts and 5 assists. A constant threat on the basepaths, she swiped 52 bases on 56 attempts. Additionally, Whittington was named CIAA player of the Year for the 2026 season.
Freshman Skyy Hicks finished an impressive rookie campaign with a .369 average on 122 at-bats. Hicks came away with 45 hits, 11 doubles, four triples, four homeruns, totaling 76 bases. She also drove in 26 RBIs and scored 40 runs for the Big Blue while recording 81 putouts and 10 assists.
About the Minority Softball Prospects HBCU All-Star Game
The MSP HBCU All-Star game is an annual showcase that brings together the top softball talent from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) across NCAA Division I, II, and NAIA. Now in its fourth year, the event highlights the achievements of HBCU student-athletes and coaches, providing them with national exposure and celebrating their contributions to collegiate softball.
The 2026 MSP HBCU All-Star game is scheduled for Friday, June 5th at Sticks Williams Dream Fields in Charlotte, NC. Festivities begin at 6 p.m. with a home run derby and the fastest HBCU prospect challenge, followed by the All-Star game.
