Beckley, WV- The Big Blues come up short against the Fighting Scots of Ohio Valley by a final score of 11-2. The Big Blues could not get their offensive going throughout the game, a large part due to the Ohio Valley pitching. But on the bright side, Coach Hunter was able to go deep into his bench, giving guys who have not played all that much this season some good experience.

The game started out as a pitchers due between J.R. Davis of Ohio Valley and Jacob Muncy of your Big Blues. Davis pitched very well, allowing the first hit of the game in the 5^th inning. Davis continued and ended up pitching up the entire game. Jacob Muncy matched him through much of the game. Muncy struck out 9 in 5.2 innings of work. Muncy's work was undone in the 6^th when the Blues could not get the final out of the inning, allowing Ohio Valley to score 5 runs in the inning.

With the game out of reach Coach Hunter went to his bench to get some athletes valuable playing time. Romero Cartwright took the mound in the 8^th and pitched a very solid inning. Cartwright gave up 2 hits and walked one in his one inning of work. But he made an excellent play when the batter smacked the ball up the middle and Cartwright stuck out his glove and caught the ball throwing to first for the out like there was nothing to it.

In the 9^th inning Justin Thomas came on as pinch hitter for his first at bat of the season. Thomas battled hard and ended up hitting a single over the 2^nd baseman's head and is now 1 for 1 on the season.

The Big Blues are off for the rest of the week and then take on Winston-Salem State for a 4 game set over the weekend. Currently the games are scheduled to be played in Princeton, WV but may change due to weather concerns.
