Big Blue Bows Twice To Bishops

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

BLUEFIELD - Bluefield State's softball fortunes stayed under a cloud despite a bright spring Wednesday afternoon in Rocky Mount, losing both ends of a doubleheader to North Carolina Wesleyan, 12-0 and 9-1. Both games ended after five innings.

In Game 1, senior Beth Braswell pitched a complete game one-hitter against the Big Blue, a single by senior Lissette Rosales.

Ashley Brassart started and pitched two innings, giving up six runs. Kennedy James finished the game, giving up four runs in the third and two in the fourth.

In Game 2, freshman Kylie Nelson pitched her first complete game. The Bishops scored in each of the first three innings, building up a 4-0 lead.

The Big Blue ended their scoring drought, pushing across a run in the fourth with an RBI single by Brassart.

However, the Wesleyan added three more in their half of the inning and added two more in the bottom of the fifth to end the game.
