Box Score MONTGOMERY, Alabama - Bluefield State will play for the Black College World Series championship after knocking off the Lions of Florida Memorial University, 10-3. It was the third straight victory for the third-seeded Big Blue in the double-elimination tournament.
The Lions jumped out to an early lead with two runs in the second off starter Kevin Mendez.
The Big Blue came back with three runs in the bottom of the third. JR McRee started the scoring with an RBI triple. Ty Sizemore singled him home. Then Roman Moore doubled to left with Sizemore racing around the bases for the third run.
The Lions tied it in the fifth off reliever Daniel Rayfield.
Bluefield State broke the game open with four in the sixth. Shane Reviello's two-run double highlighted the inning, stretching Big Blue's lead to 7-3.
The Big Blue added three more in the seventh to put the game away.
After a tight game the day before when the offense managed four runs on just three hits, it came alive against the Lions scoring ten runs on fourteen hits.
It was an errorless game for both teams.
Kenrick Mendez pitched four innings for the victory. He allowed two runs on three hits, striking out five.

A victory will give Bluefield State the first-ever championship of the Black College World Series. Game starts at 1 p.m. A loss means the teams will play a third time to decide the World Series winner.
The Series is being played in Montgomery, AL, at Riverwalk Stadium, home of the Montgomery Biscuits, Double-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays.
